Here are the symptoms: severe fatigue, thigh muscle aches, hip joint pain (perhaps from sitting), skin was slightly ashen or light yellow, shoulder muscle aches, annoying dry cough, frequent urination, feels cold (hands and trunk area) and can fall off to sleep almost instantly. After two blood labs, a colonoscopy and an EGD, and a chest -x-ray the results were negative for cancer. The blood revealed anemia, B-12 deficiency and hypothyroid level. Is being seen fy a Family Physician w/15 years. We are considering Desiccated Thyroid medication as his feet, ankles and half way up the leg is swelling tightly . . . concerns us!!! Now taking Levothyroxine .05 daily since 3/9/17, Iron gluconate and a shot of B-12 administered on 3/29/17. Is due back for a 2nd shot on 4/29/17. Little to no improvement and are aware of the side effects of all meds. Still weak and tired and tries to handle taking a shower safely. He is/was an avid hunter and blood was tested for Lyme s disease. Negative (however, could it have been missed & should it be tested at a Hematology clinic instead of a hospital lab??) Been advised to eat more green leafy vegetables and fortified grain cereals. He is a strong meat eater. Could any of this be related to Congestive Heart Issues. Did not have an EKG !! What is the timeline on the B-12 shots to begin to display improvement. It has taken 7 months to reach this level of weakened and muscle loss.
